The NFL has come up with a small solution to its blackout problem.
The good news: NFL games that are blacked out in home markets will be made available on NFL.com as part of the NFL Game Rewind package. The bad news: the games will not be accessible until midnight on the day of the game.
The delayed games will be available for free in blacked out home markets (the NFL Game Rewind package usually goes for between $7.99 and $49.99), and will last for 72 hours.
By NFL rules, games that do not sell out within 72 hours of kickoff will be blacked out locally. With some teams having trouble selling tickets, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is estimating that one-fifth of the league’s games could be blacked out this season.
