An undercard that would have been the main event in most years, Michigan State/Louisville generated a 22-year high in overnights on Sunday.
The Michigan State/Louisville NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game drew a 7.6 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 17% from Connecticut/Michigan State last year (6.5), up 23% from Michigan/Florida in 2013 (6.2), and the highest overnight for the early Sunday Elite Eight window since 1993 (8.1).
The previous mark was a 7.5 for Kansas/VCU in 2011 and Michigan State/Tennessee in 2010.
The four Elite Eight telecasts on CBS and TBS averaged an 8.0 overnight rating, up 23% from a 6.5 last year, and the highest average for the round since 2005 (8.7). The NCAA Tournament as a whole has now averaged a 7.2 overnight per window, up 11% from last year and the highest average at this point of the event since the current scheduling format began in 1991.
