NBC Sports horse racing reporter Bob Neumeier will make his return to the air next month.
Sports Illustrated reported Monday night that Neumeier will return to NBC for The Preakness Stakes, his first on-air assignment since suffering a stroke in October that required over five hours of brain surgery.
Though he will not be part of the broadcast team for the Kentucky Derby, SI also reported that he is taping a piece that will air during the telecast.
Neumeier, in his 25th year with NBC Sports, told Daily Racing Form in January that he is “one of the lucky ones.” Neumeier: “All of my motor skills and speech work are intact, thank goodness. I’ve had enormous support from doctors, speech therapists, friends, colleagues, my wife, and everyone.”
