One week after scoring U.S. cable’s largest audience of the playoffs, the Canadiens/Senators series did it again.
Game 6 of the Canadiens/Senators Stanley Cup playoff series drew 971,000 viewers on NBCSN Sunday evening, the top audience of the playoffs on cable (35 telecasts through Sunday).
The previous high was 835,000 for Game 3 of the same series the previous Sunday. As was the case the previous week, Sunday’s game had the benefit of facing no other NHL competition.
In other playoff action over the weekend, Game 5 of the Red Wings/Lightning series drew 714,000 viewers on NBCSN Saturday evening — up 4% from Blue Jackets/Penguins in a later timeslot last year (685K). The Canucks/Flames nightcap drew 444,000 — even with last year’s Wild/Avalanche game.
