Fox Sports 1 earned its largest MLB regular season audience over the weekend. In other news, the Subway Series did well for ESPN and Fox Sports 1 hit a new season-low for NASCAR Xfinity Series racing.
FS1 Scores Top MLB Audience
- Saturday’s Indians/Tigers Major League Baseball game drew 817,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1, up 22% from Angels/Tigers last year (668K), and the network’s most-watched regular season MLB telecast. The previous mark was held by last year’s aforementioned Angels/Tigers game. Later in the day, Mets/Yankees drew 647,000 viewers. The Indians/Tigers game aired exclusively on FS1, while Mets/Yankees coexisted with the local broadcast. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
Mets/Yankees Continues Hot Start For Sunday Night Baseball
- The Mets/Yankees Sunday Night Baseball game drew 2.4 million viewers on ESPN, up 40% from Orioles/Red Sox last year (1.7M) and up 58% from Cardinals/Phillies in 2013 (1.6M). Three of the season’s first four Sunday Night Baseball games have had at least a 40% increase in viewership, with the caveat that each of the three featured the Cubs or Yankees. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
New Season-Low For Xfinity Series on FS1
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Richmond drew 1.1 million viewers on Fox Sports 1 Friday night, a season-low. Since hitting the 1.9 million mark at Las Vegas, FS1 has attracted fewer viewers for each successive Xfinity Series race. Last year’s race was delayed due to rain, airing for 2.5 hours on ESPNEWS (0.4, 584K) and 90 minutes on ESPN2 (0.4, 685K). (via ShowBuzz Daily)
