Ratings and viewership continue to rise for the 2009 WNBA Finals, but Sunday’s Game 3 drew the lowest numbers of the series.
Mercury/Fever Game 3 drew a 0.29 U.S. rating and 389,000 viewers on ESPN2 Sunday afternoon, up 36% in viewers from Silver Stars/Shock Game 3 last year (286,000) last year, but down 40% from Shock/Mercury Game 3 in ’07 (646,000).
Keep in mind that Shock/Mercury Game 3 aired on a Tuesday night.
Game 3 ranks as the lowest rated, least viewed game of the ’09 WNBA Finals. Ratings have declined from game to game, going from 0.37 (Game 1) to 0.35 (Game 2) to 0.29 (Game 3).
The Fever’s win drew a 2.1 rating in Indianapolis and a 0.9 in Phoenix.
Overall, the 2009 WNBA Finals is averaging a 0.34 U.S. rating and 476,000 viewers on ESPN2, up 48% in ratings and 51% in viewers from a 0.23 and 316,000 for Shock/Silver Stars last year.
