The Yankees’ return to the MLB postseason singlehandedly gave TBS a double-digit boost in the ratings on Wednesday.
Game 1 of the Twins/Yankees ALDS drew a 5.0 overnight rating on TBS Wednesday evening, up 19% from a 4.2 for Dodgers/Cubs Game 1 in a similar timeslot last year. The Yankees’ comfortable win drew a 13.4 rating in New York and a 21.6 in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
Twins/Yankees was the only game of the day to have an increase in overnight ratings.
Earlier in the day, Rockies/Phillies Game 1 drew a 2.2 overnight rating, even with Brewers/Phillies Game 1 in a similiar timeslot last year. The game drew a 15.9 rating in Philadelphia, and a 5.9 in Denver.
The nightcap, Cardinals/Dodgers Game 1, drew a 3.8 overnight — even with Red Sox/Angels Game 1 last year. The Dodgers’ win drew a 9.6 rating in Los Angeles, and a 20.0 in St. Louis.
Overall, TBS averaged a 3.8 overnight rating for its MLB playoff tripleheader on Wednesday, up 12% from a 3.4 last year.
