The 2009 MLB Division Series has been marred by short series, but TBS is drawing good numbers regardless.
TBS drew a 5.0 overnight rating for Sunday night’s deciding Game 3 between the Yankees and Twins, up 4% from a 4.8 for Angels/Red Sox Game 3 in the comparable timeslot last year.
The Yankees’ series clinching win drew a 16.1 in New York and a 22.9 in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
The clinching game of the other AL Division Series, Angels/Red Sox Game 3, drew a 2.4 overnight rating earlier in the day — up 26% from a 1.9 for Phillies/Brewers Game 4 in a similar timeslot last year.
The game drew a 5.9 in Los Angeles (where it began at 9 AM local time) and a 14.8 in Boston.
Late Sunday night, Game 3 between the Phillies and Rockies drew a 3.1 overnight rating. There was no game in the comparable timeslot last year.
Despite ending at 2:22 AM local time, the game drew a 16.9 rating in Philadelphia — a series-high. In Denver, where the game ended at a more reasonable 12:22 AM local time, the game drew a 19.6 — also a series high.
Overall, Sunday’s Division Series tripleheader averaged a 3.5 overnight rating on TBS, up 9% from a 3.2 on the comparable day last year.
