After a rough outing last year, overnight ratings rebounded somewhat for the debut of MLB on FOX.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.5 overnight rating Saturday night, up 25% from last year’s season debut (1.2). Keep in mind last year’s comparable telecast earned the lowest overnight ever for primetime MLB on broadcast TV.
Though up from last year, Saturday’s 1.5 does not rank much better historically. It stands as the fourth-lowest overnight for primetime MLB on broadcast, ahead of only three telecasts last year.
Head-to-head, MLB on FOX was topped by the Ducks/Blackhawks NHL playoff game on NBC (2.2) and the Warriors/Rockets NBA playoff game on ESPN (4.5).
