TBS drew solid numbers for the first game of the National League Championship Series.
Phillies/Dodgers Game 1 drew a 4.3/8 U.S. rating and 6.9 million viewers on TBS Thursday night, down 16% and 11%, respectively, from a 5.1/8 and 7.7 million for Game 1 of last year’s NLCS between the same two teams on FOX.
Compared to previous League Championship Series on TBS, Phillies/Dodgers Game 1 was up 5% in ratings and 2% in viewership from Red Sox/Rays Game 1 last year (4.1/8, 6.7 mil), and up 19% and 30%, respectively, from Rockies/Diamondbacks Game 1 in ’07 (3.6/6, 5.3 mil).
This marks the fourth-highest rated and fourth-most viewed LCS telecast ever on TBS, behind only Games 5, 6 and 7 of Rays/Red Sox last year.
Through Thursday, TBS is averaging a 3.2 U.S. rating and 4.9 million viewers for coverage of the ’09 MLB postseason, up 10% and 11%, respectively, from last year.
