Oklahoma/Texas gave ABC prime time ratings on Saturday afternoon.
Texas’ win over Oklahoma drew a 6.4 overnight rating on ABC early Saturday, up slightly from a 6.3 for the same matchup in the same timeslot last year.
The 6.4 overnight is the second-largest of the season for a college football game on broadcast, behind only a 6.8 for Florida/LSU in primetime a week earlier.
Ironically, ABC, the only broadcast network to televise Saturday night games on a weekly basis, has drawn its two highest college football overnights of the season during the afternoon (6.4 for OK/TX at Noon, 5.6 for ND/Mich at 3:30).
Despite a strong lead-in from Oklahoma/Texas, regional coverage later in the day drew a 3.2 overnight rating on ABC, off 39% from a 5.2 last year. Both USC/Notre Dame on NBC and Arkansas/Florida on CBS drew higher ratings than ABC in the late afternoon window.
