In the midst of a strong season for the PGA Tour, the St. Jude Classic hit a multi-year low over the weekend.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour St. Jude Classic earned a 1.6 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 16% from last year (1.9), down 24% from 2013 (2.1) and the lowest final round overnight for the event since at least 2009.
The year-over-year decline is just the fourth for a final round PGA Tour telecast in the past 14 tournaments (dating back to the Tampa Bay Championship in March). It also snaps a streak of five straight increases that lasted from The Players Championship to The Memorial.
The 1.6 overnight is also the second-lowest of the season for a final round telecast, ahead of only the Texas Open in March (1.5).
Third round action on Saturday drew a 1.1 overnight, down 15% from last year and 2013 (1.3). It was the second straight third round telecast to have a decline in overnights, but only the third in the past 14 tournaments.
