For the first time in 35 years, Bob Costas and Tim McCarver will call a game together. In other news, the NFL has hired a pair of reporters, and incoming ESPNer Molly Qerim has been assigned to First Take.
Costas, McCarver to Work Together For First Time in 35 Years
- Longtime Major League Baseball broadcasters Bob Costas and Tim McCarver will work together on Thursday’s Padres/Cardinals game on MLB Network, the first time they have called a game together since 1980. While Costas is a regular on MLB Network, McCarver will be working his first national telecast since retiring from Fox Sports in 2013. (MLB Network)
NFL Hires Two
- The NFL has hired Yahoo! Sports columnist Rand Getlin and Comcast SportsNet Houston reporter James Palmer to serve in similar capacities for NFL.com and NFL Network, respectively. Getlin will join Judy Battista, Ian Rapoport and Michael Silver in covering overall league issues, while Palmer will be stationed in Denver, presumably covering the Broncos. (NFL Communications)
Qerim Assigned to First Take
- New ESPN hire Molly Qerim, originally slated to join Mike and Mike in the Morning when it made its now-canceled move to New York City, will serve as the interim host for ESPN’s First Take starting July 13. Previous host Cari Champion is moving to SportsCenter. Qerim will make her first ESPN appearance on Wednesday as the substitute host for SportsNation. (ESPN Media Zone)
