The Yankees gave FOX big ratings on Sunday night, but the Cowboys gave the net even bigger ratings on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s national NFL window, featuring Falcons/Cowboys, drew a whopping 16.8/32 rating and 28.4 million viewers on FOX — up 18% and 22%, respectively, from a 14.2/29 and 23.2 million for Colts/Packers on CBS last year.
The primetime portion of the telecast (7-7:56 PM) drew a massive 21.7/38 and 37.2 million viewers.
Falcons/Cowboys is far and away the highest rated, most-viewed NFL telecast of the season, topping the previous highs of 15.1 (Giants/Cowboys, Week 2) and 25.1 million (Washington/Giants, Week 1).
This marks the highest rated, most-viewed regular season NFL telecast since Patriots/Giants drew an 18.9/32 and 33.4 million viewers on CBS, NBC and NFL Network in late 2007. Additionally, the 28.4 million viewers is the most for an Sunday NFL telecast on FOX since a Cowboys/49ers game in ’96 (29.7 mil).
