The good times continue to roll for PGA Tour golf.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour John Deere Classic drew a 2.8 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 133% from last year (1.2) and up 75% from 2013 (1.6). According to Sports Business Daily, the 2.8 is the tournament’s highest final round overnight since 1999.
Jordan Spieth‘s playoff victory was the tenth final round telecast this season to hit a multi-year high in the overnights, and the third straight.
Including majors and WGC events, 14 of the past 18 Sunday PGA Tour telecasts have now had an increase in overnight ratings — with this week’s 133% jump easily the highest of the season. Overall, 29 of the past 36 weekend PGA telecasts have had increases.
Third round action on Saturday drew a 1.5 overnight, up 50% from both last year and 2013 (1.0), and according to Sports Business Daily the top third round overnight since 2002.
