ESPN has made official several changes to its college football studio teams. In other news, the NFL has hired a new COO and another former ESPN executive has joined Fox Sports.
ESPN Makes CFB Studio Changes Official
- ESPN has officially named Adnan Virk, Joey Galloway and Danny Kannell the lead Bristol-based studio team for its college football coverage. The move was first reported last month. Other announced changes include Mark May joining ABC’s studio team, Chris Cotter anchoring on ESPN2, and Joe Tessitore hosting College Football Final. (ESPN Media Zone)
Lightning’s Leiweke Joining NFL as COO
- NHL Lightning CEO Tod Leiweke has joined the NFL as chief operating officer, the first person to fill that position since Roger Goodell in 2006. Leiweke, who was CEO of the Seahawks before joining the Lightning in 2010, will begin next month. (Tampa Bay Times)
Former ESPN Exec Joins Fox Sports
- Fox Sports has hired former NBC News and ESPN executive Charlie Dixon as EVP of content for Fox Sports 1 and FS2. Dixon will work under Fox Sports president Jamie Horowitz, with whom he worked at ESPN on various original programs. He begins August 3. (Fox Sports)
