The PGA Championship continues to generate gains in the metered markets.
Third round coverage of the PGA Championship earned a 3.2 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, even with last year and up a tick from 2013 (3.1). The 3.2 overnight is tied with last year as the highest for third round coverage since 2009 (4.9), when Tiger Woods ended the day atop the leaderboard.
The 3.2 is less impressive the further one goes back. Excluding rainouts, it ranks as the sixth-lowest overnight for third round coverage dating back to 1996.
TNT’s third round coverage drew a 1.3 overnight earlier in the day, up 18% from last year (1.1) but down 19% from 2013 (1.6). All three TNT telecasts have had a year-over-year increase in overnight ratings, with the network’s three-day average of 1.4 up 27% from last year.
