Mixed martial arts put up decent, if unspectacular, numbers on CBS Saturday night.
CBS drew a 2.5 final rating and 4 million viewers for Saturday night’s Strikeforce telecast, which featured Fedor Emelianenko against Brett Rogers. This is the second-lowest rated and second-least viewed of the four Saturday Night Fights telecasts that have aired on CBS, ahead of only a July ’08 EliteXC telecast (1.7, 2.6 mil).
From 11-11:15 PM, during the Emelianenko/Rogers bout, CBS drew 5.5 million viewers.
Saturday’s telecast drew a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49, also the second-lowest of the four MMA telecasts on CBS — ahead of only a 1.0 in the demo for the aforementioned July ’08 telecast.
Saturday Night Fights also drew a 1.8 among adults 18-34 and a 2.3 among men 18-34, topping its college football competition on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 in both demographics.
Compared to the usual Saturday night CBS line-up, Saturday Night Fights was up 38% among adults 18-49, up 125% among adults 18-34, up 178% among men 18-49 and up 283% among men 18-34.
