The PGA’s Labor Day weekend event scored slight increases in the metered markets.
Final round coverage of the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second event in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup, drew a 2.2 overnight rating on NBC Monday afternoon — up a tick from last year (2.1) but down 12% from 2013 (2.5). The 2.2 overnight is the third-lowest for final round coverage of the event since 2008 (1.5), ahead of only last year and 2011 (2.1 both years).
The 2.2 is also the lowest for a final round PGA Tour telecast since the Canadian Open in July (2.1).
Despite relatively soft numbers, Monday’s telecast continued an impressive trend for the PGA Tour this season. Nineteen of the past 26 final round telecasts have had an increase in overnight ratings, including nine of the past twelve.
Third round coverage on Sunday drew a 2.0 overnight, up 11% from last year (1.8) and down 17% from 2013 (2.4).
