The NFL’s singleheader window got off to its best start in fifteen years.
The Week 1 NFL singleheader, featuring Packers/Bears in 47% of markets, drew an 11.7 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 4% from both last year and 2013 (11.2), when coverage aired on CBS. The 11.7 is the highest overnight for the Week 1 singleheader since the window last aired on FOX in 2000 (13.3).
Compared to the first singleheader on FOX last season, coverage featuring Seahawks/Chargers in Week 2, the 11.7 actually declined 5% from a 12.3.
Entering Monday’s games, four of the first five NFL windows this season have had increases in overnights — the lone exception being the national window on CBS (14.7, -16%).
