Overnight ratings dropped for Air Force/Michigan State on ABC. In other news, FOX had a second-straight big increase for Major League Baseball coverage, and NASCAR Xfinity Series racing was low again on NBCSN.
Overnights Drop For Air Force/MSU on ABC
- The Air Force/Michigan State college football game drew a 1.8 overnight rating on ABC Saturday afternoon, down a tick from regional action last year (1.9) and down a third from UCLA/Nebraska in 2013 (2.7). It was the lowest rated game of an ABC tripleheader that also included regional action (3.6) and Stanford/USC in primetime (2.7). Only one college football game on broadcast had a lower overnight over the weekend — California/Texas on FOX (1.7).
Another Big Gain For MLB on FOX
- Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.8 overnight rating Saturday afternoon, doubling last year’s comparable 0.9 and up 13% from 2013 (1.6). The telecast featured Yankees/Mets in most markets. The 1.8 overnight is tied as the highest for afternoon MLB on FOX since August 2013 (1.9) and the highest for MLB on FOX opposite college football since 2012 (2.1).
Another 0.7 For NASCAR Xfinity Series
- NBCSN drew a 0.7 overnight rating for NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Chicago Saturday, down a tick from last year (0.8) and down 22% from 2013 (0.9). The past five Xfinity Series races on NBCSN have had a 0.7 overnight, tying the third-lowest mark of the season.
