Despite featuring the Cowboys in nearly half the country, overnights dipped for Sunday’s NFL singleheader on FOX.
The Week 3 NFL singleheader window, featuring Falcons/Cowboys in 46% of markets, drew an 11.9 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 2% from coverage featuring 49ers/Cardinals/ last year (12.2) and down 10% from coverage featuring Packers/Bengals in 2013 (13.3).
The 11.9 is the lowest for the Week 3 NFL singleheader since 2008 (10.0). Even so, it also ranks as the highest of the young season for the singleheader window — topping coverage on CBS last week (10.8) and Week 1 action on FOX (11.7).
Sunday’s telecast was just the sixth of the season thus far to have a decline in overnight ratings (18 telecasts), and the first on FOX.
