A Pac-12 rout delivered the lowest rating and viewership in the history of ABC’s Saturday Night Football.
Saturday’s UCLA/Arizona college football game drew a 1.6 final rating and 2.4 million viewers on ABC, down 64% in ratings and 68% in viewership from Clemson/Florida State last year (4.5, 7.3M), down 54% and 58%, respectively, from regional action in 2013 (3.5, 5.7M), and the lowest rated Saturday Night Football telecast ever (115 telecasts dating back to 2006).
The previous low was a 1.8 for Kansas State/Oklahoma State in 2011, which aired opposite a much-hyped LSU/Alabama game on CBS.
The Bruins’ blowout win was not even the top Pac-12 telecast of the night, trailing Utah/Oregon on FOX head-to-head (1.8, 3.0M). This is only the third time that college football on FOX has topped ABC’s Saturday Night Football. It also trailed ESPN’s Texas Tech/Arkansas game (1.9, 3.1M).
Ratings and viewership were not immediately available for ABC’s afternoon games.
