El Super Clasico Drops on Univision
- Saturday’s Club América/Chivas El Súper Clásico had a 1.0 final rating and 1.9 million viewers on Univision and Univision Deportes Network, down 23% in ratings and a third in viewership from the clubs’ meeting in April (1.3, 2.9M) and flat and down 8%, respectively, from their matchup last November (1.0, 2.1M). Despite the decline, the match ranks as the most-watched in any current club soccer season — nearly doubling the top English Premier League match (1.0M). (via TV Media Insights, Univision)
Red Sox/Yankees Up on ESPN, Other Games Down
- Tuesday’s Red Sox/Yankees Major League Baseball game drew 1.0 million viewers on ESPN, up 16% from Orioles/Yankees last year (888K) and the sixth-largest weeknight audience on any network this season. The Athletics/Angels nightcap had 588,000, down 32% from Giants/Dodgers last year (858K). In other action, ESPN drew 741,000 for Cardinals/Pirates and 674,000 for Dodgers/Giants on Wednesday night — down 5% and 40%, respectively, from last year’s Royals/Indians (777K) and Giants/Dodgers (1.1M) games. - Tuesday’s edition of the Premier Boxing Champions on Fox Sports 1 drew 201,000 viewers, up 17% from coverage the previous week (172K) and the network’s most-watched PBC telecast thus far.
