Overnight ratings dipped for both games of Sunday’s FOX NFL doubleheader.
The Week 4 NFL national window, featuring Packers/49ers in 57% of markets, drew a 16.4 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 2% from coverage featuring Eagles/49ers last year (16.7) and down 11% from coverage featuring Eagles/Broncos in 2013 (18.5).
The telecast, which also included Vikings/Broncos in 36% of markets, was the third out of four NFL national windows this season to have a decline in overnights.
Despite the decline, Sunday’s 16.4 overnight is the fourth-highest for any NFL telecast this season (25 telecasts) — trailing only the Week 2 national window on FOX (17.8), the Steelers/Patriots Kickoff Game on NBC (17.7) and Giants/Cowboys on NBC in Week 1 (16.7).
The early doubleheader window, featuring Giants/Bills in 68% of markets, had a 9.65 overnight according to ShowBuzz Daily and a 9.3 according to Sports Business Daily. Either way, that trails coverage featuring Packers/Bears last year (10.1) and coverage featuring Seahawks/Texans in 2013 (10.2).
