Viewership slipped for the SEC on CBS last weekend.
Last Saturday’s Georgia/Tennessee college football game drew 4.9 million viewers on CBS, down 18% from Alabama/Mississippi last year (5.9M) and down 13% from the same Georgia/Tennessee matchup in 2013 (5.6M). The rating was not immediately available.
The Volunteers’ win earned the second largest audience of the season for the SEC on CBS (six telecasts), but was the third of the past four games to have a year-over-year decline.
The game ranked second for the week among college football telecasts, trailing only Texas/Oklahoma on ABC (5.0M) and edging ESPN’s Arkansas/Alabama game in primetime (4.8M). After topping the charts nine times in 13 weeks last season, the SEC on CBS has done so just once in six weeks this year.
