Delayed NASCAR racing from Charlotte was unsurprisingly low on NBCSN. In other news, the WNBA Finals finished down from last year, and the U.S. soccer friendly against Costa Rica sank on ESPN.
Delayed NASCAR From Charlotte Unsurprisingly Low
- Delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Charlotte, the fourth race in the Chase For the Cup, drew 2.7 million viewers on NBCSN last Sunday afternoon — the second-smallest Sprint Cup audience of the season. The race was originally scheduled to air Saturday night on the NBC broadcast network, but was postponed due to rain. Last year’s race, which aired as scheduled on ABC, drew 5.1 million viewers. WNBA Finals Finishes Down From Last Year
- The five-game Lynx/Fever WNBA Finals averaged a 0.3 rating and 502,000 viewers across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, down a tick in ratings and 21% in viewership from last year’s three-game Mercury/Sky series across the same three networks (0.4, 634K). Despite the decline, the series ranks as the sixth-most watched WNBA Finals ever on the ESPN family of networks. ESPN has aired part of every championship series since the event expanded to multiple games in 1998. (ESPN)
USMNT Loss to Costa Rica Down on ESPN
- Tuesday’s United States/Costa Rica men’s soccer friendly drew 505,000 viewers on ESPN, down 29% from USA/Honduras on the comparable night last year (707K). The match ranks sixth out of the 11 non-tournament U.S. matches this year. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
