For the third straight year, overnight ratings declined for the BCS Selection Show.
Sunday night’s BCS Selection Show drew a 6.4 overnight rating on FOX, down 6% from a 6.8 last year, down 23% from an 8.3 in ’07, and the lowest overnight for the Selection Show since 2005.
Overnight ratings for the BCS Selection Show have declined every year since ’06, when the show drew a record-high 9.4 overnight.
The lower number comes despite a massive lead-in from Cowboys/Giants, which drew an 18.9 overnight — the highest overnight for the lead-in to the BCS Selection Show since ’06, when another Cowboys/Giants game drew a 19.1.
The BCS Selection Show outdrew the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Show by 33% (6.4 to 4.8), the fourth straight year that the BCS Selection Show has outdrawn its NCAA Tournament counterpart.
