HBO’s Bryant Gumbel is “okay for the time being” after having surgery to remove a malignant tumor on his lung.
Guest hosting on the syndicated morning show Live! with Regis and Kelly Tuesday morning, Gumbel told viewers that he had “part of his lung … removed” during the surgery, and now hopes that “his treatment is completed.”
Gumbel, the host of HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and the former play-by-play voice of NFL telecasts on NFL Network, had kept the procedure private. Gumbel: “We had told a few people, we told my family, obviously. … I even kept it from my staff at ?Real Sports.?”
