Like its SEC counterpart, last week’s ACC Championship Game drew record ratings — but not in a good way.
Georgia Tech’s win over Clemson last Saturday night drew a 1.6 U.S. rating and 2.5 million viewers on ESPN, marking the lowest rated, least-viewed ACC Championship Game in the five-year history of the event.
The 1.6 rating is down 39% from a 2.6 last year, when the game aired in the afternoon on ABC.
Since the inaugural game drew a 5.1, ratings for the ACC Championship Game have declined 69%.
Head-to-head, the ACC Championship Game was outdrawn by 368% in ratings and 400% in viewers by the Big 12 Championship Game on ABC (7.5, 12.7 mil). Additionally, the game barely outdrew a North Carolina/Kentucky college basketball game on CBS earlier in the day (1.5 rating).
