A blowout between a pair of middle-of-the-road teams put up soft numbers Sunday Night Football.
The Week 13 Colts/Steelers Sunday Night Football game had a 12.2 overnight rating on NBC, down 8% from Broncos/Chiefs last year (13.2) but up 1% from Giants/Washington in 2013 (12.1). The 12.2 is the second-lowest of the season for SNF, ahead of only an 11.7 for Bengals/Cardinals two weeks earlier.
The Steelers’ 35-point win was just the third of 15 NFL telecasts on NBC this season to have a decline in the overnights, along with Bengals/Cardinals (-14%) and Eagles/Panthers in Week 7 (-8%).
Sunday’s game ranked well behind the NFL national window, which scored an 18.2 overnight rating on FOX. Just once this season has Sunday Night Football topped the late doubleheader game in the metered markets — Week 1.
Pittsburgh was Sunday’s top market with a 40.3 rating, followed by Indianapolis (33.5). Las Vegas (17.5) was the top neutral market, with Richmond (17.1) and Norfolk (16.9) rounding out the top five.
