The Cardinals’ blowout of the Packers did not hurt overnight ratings for the NFL national window on FOX.
The Week 16 NFL national window, featuring Packers/Cardinals in 92% of markets, drew a 16.8 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 14% from coverage featuring Colts/Cowboys last year (14.7) and up the same amount from coverage featuring Patriots/Ravens in 2013 (14.8). Both of those telecasts aired on CBS.
Sunday’s telecast marked just the sixth time in 16 weeks this season that the NFL national window has had an increase in the overnights.
As should be no surprise, the national window was the top NFL telecast of the day — cruising past NBC’s Giants/Vikings Sunday Night Football game (11.5). It has topped SNF in the metered markets 15 times in 16 weeks this season.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Panthers/Falcons in 54% of markets drew a 10.6 overnight, down 14% from last year (12.3) and down 2% from 2013 (10.8), both of which aired on CBS. The end of the Panthers’ undefeated run is tied for sixth out of the 16 early doubleheader windows this season.
