Retired NHL player Jeremy Roenick appears to have a future at NBC Sports.
Roenick appeared on NBC’s NHL coverage during Sunday’s Blackhawks/Red Wings game, serving as a guest analyst during intermission segments. “NBC is giving me some opportunities,” Roenick told ESPNChicago.com.
And though NBC has not made any official announcement, one of those opportunities is apparently a role during the network’s coverage of the 2010 Olympics. Roenick said as much in the ESPNChicago.com piece: “[W]e will see what happens. Next up is the Olympics.”
Roenick would not be the first loquacious former hockey star to join NBC. In 2007, Brett Hull served as one of the network’s two studio analysts — though he lasted only one season.
