One of the higher-profile matchups in the NBA season delivered record numbers.
Monday’s Spurs/Warriors NBA regular season game scored 1.4 million viewers on NBA TV, the network’s largest audience for any program since becoming a Nielsen rated network in 2010. The previous high was 1.1 million for Game 6 of the 2014 Pacers/Hawks playoff series.
The Warriors’ blowout win peaked relatively early, with 1.7 million from 11:15-11:30 PM ET.
As is always the case with games on NBA TV, coverage was blacked out in the local markets. Local coverage on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area earned a 16.08 rating, the network’s highest ever for any program. The previous mark was an 11.83 rating for a 2010 Giants/Padres Major League Baseball game.
Warriors games are now averaging an 8.38 rating on CSN Bay Area, up 122% from last year and on pace to set a network record.
In San Antonio, coverage on Fox Sports Southwest drew a 14.41 rating — the network’s second-highest ever for a Spurs game. The near-record number came despite a late 9:30 PM local time start and the Spurs getting run out of the building.
