Overnight ratings sank for rain-soaked coverage of the PGA from Torrey Pines.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines earned a 1.7 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 32% from last year (2.5), down 26% from 2014 (2.3), and the event’s lowest final round overnight since at least 1998. The previous low over that span was a 2.0 in 2012.
The multi-year low comes with some important caveats, including rain that pushed the conclusion to Monday and the absence of both Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. The three lowest final round overnights have been in years when Woods did not play.
Third round action the previous day delivered a 1.1 overnight, down 27% from last year (1.5) but even with 2014.
