King will remain in his current role as head of the Monday Morning Quarterback (MMQB) website. McKendry Staying at ESPN, But Leaving SportsCenter
- ESPN SportsCenter anchor Chris McKendry is leaving the show but remaining with the network under a new contract extension, it was announced Wednesday. McKendry will primarily focus on tennis in the new deal, working ESPN’s coverage of the Australian Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open. She will end her 20-year tenure on SportsCenter Thursday morning. Fmr. NBC Analyst Garagiola Dies
- Longtime Major League Baseball broadcaster Joe Garagiola died last week at the age of 90. Garagiola was a fixture at NBC from the 1970s into the early 1990s, serving as the network’s lead Major League Baseball analyst from 1974-88, a co-host of The Today Show from 1967-73 and 1990-92, and a guest host of the Tonight Show. Overall, his broadcasting career spanned nearly 60 years — starting with the Cardinals in 1955 and ending with the Diamondbacks in 2013. (New York Times)
