Even as the Closing Ceremony draws near, NBC continues to draw strong numbers for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics drew a 13.9/24 rating and 24.5 million viewers on NBC Friday night, up 43% in ratings and 54% in viewership from the comparable night in ’06 (Turin; 9.7/17, 15.9 mil), but down 22% and 16%, respectively, from the comparable night in ’02 (Salt Lake City; 17.7/31, 29.2 mil).
Versus the comparable night of the 1998 Nagano Olympics, Friday’s rating was down 40% from a 23.2/38.
Salt Lake City was Friday’s top market, with a 21.8/37. Seattle (20.3/38), Milwaukee (19.7/33), Denver (19.4/35), and Portland (18.2/34) made up the rest of the top five.
For the Olympics as a whole, Salt Lake City leads all markets (22.2/37), followed by Denver (21.8/36), Milwaukee (21.3/33), Seattle (19.9/37) and Minneapolis (19.5/33).
Through Friday, evening coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics averaged a 14.0/23 rating and 24.7 million viewers on NBC, up 12% and 19%, respectively, from ’06 (12.5/20, 20.8 mil).
