Albeit facing heavy competition, NASCAR ratings continue to drop on FOX.
Sunday’s Shelby American from Las Vegas drew a 4.1 overnight rating on FOX — down 26% from last year (5.5), down 34% from 2008 (6.2), and the lowest overnight for the race since it moved to FOX in 2001.
The race aired directly opposite the Men’s Hockey Gold Medal Game of the Winter Olympics, which drew a 17.6 overnight.
This marks the third straight NASCAR race to see a decline in overnight ratings this season.
Despite the decline, Sunday’s race drew a higher overnight rating than Nuggets/Lakers on ABC (3.8). However, NASCAR on FOX has traditionally had a much larger advantage over its regular season NBA competition.
