One night after suffering steep declines, the NBA Playoffs bounced back on Wednesday.
Game 5 of the Rockets/Warriors NBA playoff series scored 3.7 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, up 25% from Blazers/Grizzlies last year (2.9M) but down 17% from Blazers/Rockets in 2014 (4.4M). All five games of the series posted a year-over-year increase.
The Warriors’ blowout win was the least-watched game of the series, with each of the previous four topping the four million mark. A contributing factor was competition from Blazers/Clippers Game 5 on NBA TV, which had 353,000.
Earlier in the night, Hornets/Heat Game 5 had 3.1 million — up 67% from Nets/Hawks last year (1.9M) but down 5% from Mavericks/Spurs in 2014 (3.3M).
