Much like the Warriors overall, ABC’s NBA ratings were perfectly fine sans Stephen Curry.
Game 1 of the Blazers/Warriors NBA playoff series scored a 5.0 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon, up 32% from Grizzlies/Warriors last year (3.8) and up a tick from Mavericks/Spurs Game 7 in 2014 (4.9).
The 5.0 is the highest for a second round opener on ABC since Pacers/Heat in 2012 (5.2), and the network’s fourth-highest overall — trailing Pacers/Heat, Celtics/Heat in 2011 (7.0) and Lakers/Spurs in 2004 (6.0).
Hornets/Heat Game 7 had a 3.1 overnight earlier in the day, up 19% from Wizards/Hawks Game 1 last year (2.6) and but down 21% from Nets/Raptors Game 7 in 2014 (3.9).
Over on TNT, Sunday’s Pacers/Raptors Game 7 had a 2.8 overnight. There was no comparable window in previous years. Thunder/Spurs Game 1 drew a 2.7 the previous day, down 21% from Spurs/Clippers last year (3.4) and down 34% from Grizzlies/Thunder Game 7 in 2014 (4.1).
