A pair of marquee NBA matchups gave ABC solid numbers on Sunday.
Sunday’s Cavaliers/Celtics thriller drew a 2.7 overnight rating on ABC, up 17% from Spurs/Cavaliers last year (2.3), up 35% from Warriors/Hornets in ’08 (2.0), and up 17% from Heat/Pistons in ’07 (2.3).
The 2.7 overnight is the highest for a regular season NBA game in the 1 PM window since Pistons/Celtics in March ’09.
Meanwhile, the Spurs’ win over the Lakers drew a 3.2 overnight rating, up 33% from Suns/Mavericks last year (2.4), up 10% from Mavericks/Suns in ’08 (2.9), and up 7% from Mavericks/Suns in ’07 (3.0).
The 3.2 overnight is the highest for any NBA game on ABC since Lakers/Celtics in January (4.4).
