Jordan Spieth‘s first victory in four months held even with last year’s multi-year high.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour at Colonial earned a 2.2 overnight rating on CBS, even with last year and up 47% from 2014 (1.5). The 2.2 is tied with last year and 2006 as the highest for final round coverage of the tournament since 2005 (2.3). Both this year and last, Spieth was in contention — winning this year and losing by one stroke last year.
Of the 34 PGA Tour windows on broadcast television this season, Sunday’s was just the eighth to set or tie a multi-year high in the overnights.
Also among those eight was Saturday’s third round, which pulled a 1.4 overnight according to ShowBuzz Daily and a 1.3 according to Sports Business Daily. Either way, the number at least tied last year’s 1.3 and increased double-digits over a 0.9 in 2014.
