Ratings and viewership for Formula 1’s Monaco Grand Prix remained unchanged from the past two years. In other news, the Liga MX Clausura final posted big gains on Univision and USA soccer viewership has gone in opposite directions in recent days.
F1 Stable
- Last Sunday’s Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix earned a 0.9 final rating and 1.3 million viewers on NBC, the same as last year and 2014. Exact figures for last year’s race were unavailable, so viewership may have been up or down by a small amount. The race has yet to match its inaugural sampling on NBC, a 1.0 and 1.4 million in 2013.
Liga MX Up
- Last Sunday’s second leg of the Liga MX Clausura final had a 1.2 final rating and 2.6 million viewers on Univision and Univision Deportes Network, up 100% in ratings and 119% in viewership from last year (0.6, 1.2M) and flat and up 3%, respectively, from 2014 (1.2, 2.5M). According to Sports Business Daily, it was the most-watched Clausura final since 2013. (CORRECTION 6.2.2017: Match had a 1.2 rating, not a 1.5).
USA Soccer Mixed
- Thursday’s United States/Japan USA women’s soccer friendly had 299,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1, down 52% from the squad’s previous friendly against Colombia on ESPN in April (622K). That was the most-watched friendly of the year, regardless of gender. On the men’s side, last Sunday’s USA/Bolivia match had 454,000 on FS1 — up 6% and 49%, respectively, from previous friendlies against Ecuador (429K) and Puerto Rico (304K). Around this time last year, the women scored 998,000 for their final World Cup tune-up and the men topped 650,000 for matches against the Netherlands and Germany.
