MLB on FOX tied its highest overnight rating of the season. In other news, ESPN’s O.J. Simpson miniseries hit a viewership low on Friday, and the NCAA tennis championships put up poor numbers on CBS.
MLB on FOX Ties Season-High Overnight
- Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 2.0 overnight rating on Saturday night, matching the previous week as the network’s highest rating of the season in the metered markets. There was no comparable window last year. MLB on FOX had a direct lead-in from the third round of the U.S. Open, which had a 2.5 overnight.
ESPN O.J. Doc Goes Lower Friday Night
- The fourth episode of ESPN’s 30 For 30 miniseries O.J.: Made in America pulled a series-low 1.4 million viewers Friday night, down from 1.7 million for episodes two and three. Saturday’s final episode had a 1.3 overnight rating, down 54% from episode one on ABC in the same window the previous week (2.8).
Double-Fault For NCAA Tennis Championships
- Taped coverage of the Virginia/Oklahoma NCAA men’s tennis championship pulled an abysmal 0.2 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, about as low as a program can go on broadcast television. The Stanford/Oklahoma State women’s championship had a 0.4 the following day, poor by most standards but decent by comparison. Neither match was televised last year.
