The Ratings Game: Final round coverage of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans drew a 1.3 final rating on CBS last Sunday, down 13% from last year (1.5) and down 19% from 2008 (1.6). Saturday’s third round action drew a 1.1 final rating, up 22% from last year (0.9) and up 10% from ’08 (1.0). (Sports Business Daily)
- Idle Note: The WNBA Playoffs will return to ABC this year. The network will air an early round playoff game on Sunday, September 5 (1 PM ET), and one game from the WNBA Finals on September 12 (3 PM). ABC has not aired a WNBA Finals game since 2006. (espnabcsports.com)
- Big Names: KTCK radio producer and former MLB pitcher Mike Bacsik was officially fired earlier this week following a disparaging comment he made about Hispanics on his personal Twitter account. Bacsik made the comment during last Sunday’s Mavericks/Spurs Game 4, along with insults aimed at NBA Commissioner David Stern and the NBA league office. Bacsik: “Obviously, I made a terrible mistake. It was very bad and stupid on my part.” (ESPN)
