The seventh week of the Premier League season brought unimpressive numbers to NBCSN.
Last Sunday’s Tottenham/Manchester City English Premier League match had a 0.3 final rating and 513,000 viewers on NBCSN, down a tick in ratings and 41% in viewership from Arsenal/Chelsea in 2014 (0.4, 874K). There was no comparable window last year.
The Spurs’ win was the most-watched EPL telecast of the week, marking the third time in seven weeks this season that no window cracked 600,000 viewers.
Later in the morning, Burnley/Arsenal earned a 0.3 and 419,000 — up a tick in ratings and 9% in viewership from Watford/Crystal Palace last year (0.2, 385K) and up a tick and 18%, respectively, from Queens Park/West Ham in 2014 (0.2, 356K).
The Sunday tripleheader started with a 0.2 and 240,000 for Manchester United/Stoke City, down a tick and 54%, respectively, from Everton/Manchester United in 2014 (0.3, 526K).
In other action, Hull City/Chelsea had a 0.3 and 460,000 on Saturday morning — flat in ratings and down 34% in viewership from Manchester United/Sunderland last year (0.3, 699K) and flat and up 24%, respectively, from West Brom/Liverpool in 2014 (0.3, 371K). The year-over-year decline is even more pronounced when one considers that last year’s game faced competition from other Premier League action on USA Network.
Swansea City/Liverpool started the day with a 0.2 and 336,000, down a tick and 15%, respectively, from Tottenham/Manchester City last year (0.3, 397K). There was no comparable window in 2014.
Wrapping up the week seven slate, the previous day’s Everton/Crystal Palace match had 197,000. Last year’s comparable weekday match, West Brom/Everton on a Monday, had 326,000/
