The second game of the National League Championship Series posted a slight increase in the overnights, but that was more than enough to set a Fox Sports 1 record.
Game 2 of the Dodgers/Cubs NLCS earned a 5.0 overnight rating on FS1 Sunday night, up 4% from Cubs/Mets on TBS last year (4.8) and up 72% from Giants/Cardinals on FS1 in 2014 (2.9). Compared to last year’s ALCS on FS1, overnights increased 163% from a 1.9 for Blue Jays/Royals on a Saturday afternoon.
The 5.0 overnight is the highest in the history of FS1, topping the previous mark of 4.8 for Cubs/Giants Game 4 on Tuesday. It is also the highest for an LCS Game 2 regardless of network since Tigers/Red Sox on FOX in 2013, the last Game 2 to air on broadcast (5.2).
The Dodgers’ win increased 28% from Saturday’s Game 1 (3.9) despite facing tougher competition from Sunday Night Football. Even though the Colts/Texans game was the lowest rated edition of SNF in five years, it still had a 9.0 overnight.
Locally, Game 2 had a 23.9 rating in Chicago — up 26% from Game 2 last year (19.0). It had a 10.8 in Los Angeles, up 48% from Game 2 of Dodgers/Cardinals on TBS in 2013, which aired in the afternoon (7.3).
