Alabama turned a Top 10 showdown into a lopsided mismatch, but CBS managed an increase in ratings nonetheless.
Alabama/Tennessee had a 3.9 final rating and 6.6 million viewers on the SEC on CBS last weekend, up 8% in ratings and 14% in viewership from Alabama/Texas A&M last year (3.6, 5.8M) and up a tick and 10%, respectively, from Auburn/Mississippi State in 2014 (3.8, 6.0M).
The Tide’s 39-point win earned the second-largest audience of the season on CBS, edging past Tennessee/Texas A&M the week before (6.58M to 6.56M) and behind only Alabama/Mississippi in week three (8.2M). The 3.9 rating tied the second-best mark on CBS, matching Tennessee/Texas A&M and behind Alabama/Mississippi (5.0).
For the weekend, the SEC on CBS ranked second among college football games behind Ohio State/Wisconsin on ABC (5.2, 9.0M). Head-to-head, it comfortably topped regional action on ABC (2.3, 3.7M) and USC/Arizona on FOX (0.6, 871K).
