- Nationals P Stephen Strasburg is becoming a TV star. TBS has added Sunday’s Nationals/Indians game (Strasburg’s second major league start) to its schedule, replacing a previously scheduled Phillies/Red Sox matchup. Meanwhile, MLB Network has added the June 18 White Sox/Nationals game (Strasburg’s third start), replacing Red Sox/Dodgers. (Turner Sports, Digital Sports Daily)
- Viewers may have noticed fans wearing hats with Frank Caliendo‘s name on them sitting behind ESPN/ABC broadcasters during recent NBA Playoff games. One of the fans, Bill Blumenreich, is funding Caliendo’s Las Vegas show. Blumenreich told the Boston Globe that ABC’s “director was furious and asked me to take [the hat] off. … I told him I don?t want to be a troublemaker, but I think I?ll keep it on.” (Boston Globe)
- The USC football program, one of the bigger television draws in college football, has been banned from postseason play for the next two years. Last year, USC’s win over Boston College in the Emerald Bowl drew 7.6 million on ESPN — the third-largest bowl audience in the network’s history. (ESPN.com)
