The Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix earned its smallest audience since moving to NBC. In other news, NASCAR’s Truck Series race from Talladega posted slight declines on FOX, and last week’s NHL action on NBC dropped significantly from last year.
F1 US GP Hits Low on NBC
- The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix had a 0.5 final rating and 727,000 viewers on NBC Sunday afternoon, down a tick in ratings and 18% in viewership from last year (0.6, 889K) and down a tick and 8%, respectively, from 2014 (0.6, 788K). It was the least-watched edition of the race since it began airing on NBC in 2013. Of the 15 F1 races that can be compared to last year, 9 have declined.
Talladega Truck Race Dips on FOX
- NASCAR Truck Series racing from Talladega scored 1.3 million viewers on the FOX broadcast network last Saturday, off 2% from last year (1.32M to 1.29M) and down 8% from 2014 (1.4M). Ratings fell 9% year-over-year (0.93 to 0.85).
Last Week’s NHL Action Down Big on NBCSN
- Last Wednesday’s Red Wings/Rangers NHL regular season game had 383,000 viewers on NBCSN, down 37% from Blackhawks/Flyers last year (605K) and down 35% from Bruins/Red Wings in 2014 (592K). The previous night, Flyers/Blackhawks had 170,000 — down 56% from Lightning/Red Wings last year (388K) but up 17% from Sabres/Hurricanes in ’14 (145K).
